Welcome Eli Samuel

He is finally here! After waiting way past when I expected him to arrive, labor started first thing New Year's morning. And even though in the back of my mind I knew this was it, I didn't believe it. Even when I called the midwife. I had been having hours of early labor for weeks. I knew it was the real thing, but I still didn't trust it to continue.
Well, when Rene'e arrived I was 8 cm. Almost there! Long story short, after 3 hours of labor, I delivered my biggest baby yet. The first words out of my mouth were, "You were worth it. You are worth every second of it."

I had given strict orders to Rene'e and everyone else who was there that I did not want anyone to tell me the sex of the baby. Even if they saw it first. So, the baby was laid up on my belly, quickly covered up, and I sat and admired him for 3.5 minutes before deciding to look. And low and behold, Ainsley's prophecy of two years prior came to fruition. It's a boy!

Eli was born at 11:32 am, January 1st. He weighed in at 8 lbs even and measured 20 1/8 inches long.

Which brings me to the winner of the bet. MommaofMany came the closest with a correct guess of the gender, 2 days off on the date, just over 2 hours off on the time, 3 ounces off on the weight, and 7/8 off on the length. That's pretty impressive! Momma, please email me your address so that I can mail out your gift certificate.

What a glorious day it was and a grand way to start the New Year! Eli is such a beautiful baby and looks so much like Ainsley did. I'm grateful to have been a part of the cheering section as you pushed him into the world - such an incredible experience!

Thanks so much, Jamie, for the gift! I blogged about it here: http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/Mommaofmany/652774/

Eli is a lovely little guy. Nuzzle on him for me and smell that new baby smell! I miss it.
