Leap of Faith

We have big news!!!

In December, my sister Ginger posted a link to a fundraiser for a beautiful orphan with Down Syndrome. That one post led me to Reece's Rainbow where I learned of the many, many orphaned children with Down Syndrome around the world. These orphans have NO hope. They are throw aways in their societies. Most areas think these children aren't worthy of life. And, sadly, they are treated as such. So many of these children never leave their crib, they aren't held or loved. They aren't even touched except for a diaper change or to put a bottle in their mouths. And even then, it is minimal at best. Needless to say, our eyes were opened. And what does the Word say about that?

"Once our eyes are opened, we can't pretend we don't know what to do. God, who weighs our hearts and keeps our souls, knows what we know, and holds us responsible to act." Proverbs 24:12

There is just no way that we could see a need and ignore the call to act. Could we truly stand before our Savior on judgement day and make excuses for our inaction?

"But God. . . we were content"
"But God. . . it would have been hard."
"But God. . . we didn't have the money."
"But God. . . people would have called us crazy."
"But God. . . we may have had to parent that child for his whole life."
What do you think His response would be? I know that I am not willing to find out.

So, without further ado, I would like to introduce you to "Wilson".

Wilson is not his real name, it is his "screen name" on Reece's Rainbow. But until we decide what his new name for his new life will be, we will call him Wilson. Wilson is a two year old boy with Down Syndrome and he is soon to be our son. My heart was filled to overflowing with love for this child the first time I saw his picture. When I asked God how I could love someone so much even though I had never met him or seen him in person, His response was, "I put that love in you heart."
We know that with this decision will come many trials and tribulations, but those are part of the sanctification process, right?

"Consider it pure joy my brothers and sisters when you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance." James 1:2-3

We have heard from many other adoptive families that this journey will change our lives forever. We have no doubt of that. I just hope that we prove ourselves faithful. And that we truly learn to "lean not on our own understanding".

We are so thrilled that God has decided to expand our borders and take us into unknown territory. We are humbled that he would find us worthy. If you would like to follow our adoption journey, you can find it here. And if God moves you to donate toward our adoption, your tax-deductible donation can be made here. We appreciate all of your love, support, and encouragement along the way.

One more thing, We are following the will of our Almighty God.
Any questions, doubts or concerns need to be taken up with Him. We are just trying to be His hands and feet in this journey.

I'm so proud of you guys! You're making a hard decision FOR GOD'S GLORY! And you will definitely be sanctified in the process!
But "His grace is sufficient! His power is made perfect in weakness." 2 Cor. 12:9

God will provide all you need to adopt and to raise Wilson. Praise God, you are redeeming one of His children. God will be glorified as you go thru this walk of faith.

That is so wonderful! :) When I saw Wilson's picture a while back, I thought to myself, "Wow, he looks like a Wooddell!" :) Now he'll be a Wooddell! YIPPEE!

And, since you like 3 letter boy names...you could keep WIL! :) Or break with tradition and go with ENOCH! LOL Brett would be so proud!

Love and bleesings to you all,
Krista
