All Tangled Up

It was an ordinary night. Just like any other. The littles had just gotten out of the bathtub. Eli was tucked in for the night. The older two were taking turns in the shower. And then it happened.

I was sitting at the computer when Ainsley started crying. Max laughed and she cried harder. I called her to me and here she came with a small round brush stuck tight up against her scalp.

"Oh Ainsley," I said. "It's ok. We'll get it out."
After admonishing Max for laughing at her in this predicament, I told Ainsley I completely understand her fear. I knew (from experience) that her first thought was that we were going to have to cut her hair to get the hairbrush out. I told Ainsley that I had thought the same thing when I found myself with a round brush stuck in my hair at about the same age. But my Daddy, who loves me very much, destroyed that nasty hairbrush and pulled out each bristle one at a time with pliers until my hair was loosed of the torture object.
And you know what happened, Ainsley's Daddy, who loves her very much, sat on the sofa with Ainsley in his lap and ever so slowly pulled her hair loose with my knitting needles. He even held his tongue just right. (Again)

We were left with a huge rat's nest, but since she was fresh out of the shower, it was easy enough to brush out. . . . with a flat hairbrush!

Ouch! That had to have been painful. I'm certain Ainsley won't "curl" her hair with a round brush again any time soon! God bless Mike!

Both pictures are HILARIOUS!! And I don't blame Max. I'm pretty sure I would have laughed too.

Oh we did laugh. But only after Ainsley had been reassured that her hair wasn't going to be 1/2" long on the left side.
