Yesterday I was having a bad day to say the least. Then Mike called and said the appraiser would be here in just over an hour. I, being the obedient dutiful wife that I am, said "Oh no he's not!" So, Mike called him back to reschedule. But my day had already been ruined. That one phone call brought on more stress than I can tell you. You see, housekeeping is the one area of my job that I feel needs the most improvement. (That's putting it mildly.) I have great excuses mind you. Mike and I are both babies of the family. If you don't know what that means, let me just say, we are both lazy, indecisive procrastinators. We rarely finish what we start and we put off as long as we can (and sometimes longer) the things we don't want to do.
All of that to say, I freaked out.

This is not new to my children unfortunately. I flip my lid every time I get overwhelmed by the shape my house is in. . . and finally decide to do something about it. Oh and before you comment, I've tried flylady! But back to the story. After I calmed down a little and a few things were looking better, I grabbed Max and hugged him and apologized. I said, "I need to learn not to flip out." To which he responded, "The real problem is, we don't read our Bibles often enough."

HELLO! Did my nine year old son just allow the Lord to speak directly to me through him? I believe the answer is "YES". And he is absolutely correct. I took that opportunity to go to my room and rest in the Lord for a few minutes. I was led to ask forgiveness for my laziness and for not being a good steward of my home. So, this is something we will all be working on for the next few weeks and even longer.
My main points are: 1. I'm not perfect and need God to help change me. and 2. I believe God uses our children to talk to us often. We just need to be willing to listen!

As you know, the Lord will use whatever means necessary to speak to us, and hearing such a message from one's own child comes thru Loud and Clear. God bless you that you had your receivers on. This is a great message for all of us and I really enjoyed the photos! Thank you for being transparent to share.
Jamie,
We learned a song once:
Dios es Grande! - God is big! It was a very stressful time in my life and for several days after we learned it, at the most stressful points, one of my little boys would come by me singing that song. God was getting His message across and it was a great comfort to me. I don't know that any of the boys would remember doing that - I think it was totally the Holy Spirit in them. I will never forget!
On a different note: I bet if you came to my house, you would feel much better about yours... Mine bothers me too, especially because I am an organized person and feel so totally unorganized most of the time now. Don't let that stop you from being a better steward - just wanted to let you know you aren't the only one!
Jaime, you are not alone! Thanks for sharing and thanks Max for saying what you said! It's funny they are just so much more clear about things.
I have found I flip out more when the laundry is over the top. So, I try to keep that at bay, but I get it all done and then I have more!! Someday, my kids might help--like Ginger's do, but I have to get all that figured out before I tell them to start on the mound of laundry!
Thanks for sharing.
