A New Thought

I was just reading a daily devotion from "My Utmost for His Highest" that I found here. I just stumbled upon it really. But you know God. There are no coincidences. This quote stood out for me:

"as long as our eyes are focused on our own personal holiness, we will never even
get close to the full reality of redemption. Christian workers fail because they
place their desire for their own holiness above their desire to know God."

Interesting. It does seem that most of the time I am caught up in trying to do what is right. Trying to be patient and loving with my children. Trying to be thoughtful and kind with my friends. But always on my own. James 1:17 says "Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above." I don't have the ability to do good without God.

I've always thought of reading the Bible as a chore. I knew that all good Christians read their Bibles everyday. They carry their Bibles with them. They memorize scripture. It all sounded like homework. Just one more thing I had to do during the day. But, I have recently discovered that a true desire to know God means a desire to read His word.

I now look forward to spending time in His word so that I can learn more about Him. I don't want to get to heaven and have to face the One who saved me from an eternity in Hell and realize I didn't know Him at all. Praise God for each day that I might learn more about Him!

Very good word. Once I realized that I could do no good apart from the Lord, everything changed. I stopped beating myself up and started relying on Him. He is faithful. Hasn't let me down yet.

You've got it girl!!! The more you seek Him, the more you will find Him. The more you find Him, the more you will love Him. When you have been in the presence of the Lord, His glory shines through you and His unfailing love changes you! Someone once said that "One moment without His anointing - and we are finished!" It's only by Him and through Him! Glory to God.
